THE HAUNTED Frontman Working On 'Really Heavy' New Side Project
August 11, 2008In a recent interview with Antenna magazine, THE HAUNTED vocalist Peter Dolving revealed plans to launch a new band. "I do have a different project in the box called O," he said. "That's like really heavy, heavy dark groovy music. It's got influences from NEUROSIS, early NEUROSIS meets QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE meets… I don't know what. It's really heavy. And it's very funny as well; it's so weird."
Antenna: Who's involved in that project?
Dolving: "No known people. It's just me and a couple of friends, and when we have all the songs tracked as demos, we'll talk to Adrian [Erlandsson, AT THE GATES/ex-CRADLE OF FILTH drummer] if he's interested in doing some drums. We'll talk to Jesper [Liveröd], the bass player from BURST — he's interested in doing it. We'll see. It's project that needs four guitars, so it's a pretty loud thing."
Antenna: It's been a while since [THE HAUNTED] released a live recording. Do you have plans for a live DVD?
Dolving: "No. But we made a movie about touring. It's not finished yet, we have some editing to do. It's named 'Roadkill'. We haven't decided what to do with it. Maybe we're just going to sell it on tour and not in record stores. So if you want it, you'll have to go to a show. [laughs]"
Antenna: So far it seems like only four tracks are being used on the limited edition of [the upcoming THE HAUNTED album] "Versus". Are the remaining tracks being used for B-sides or other projects?
Dolving: "There are a couple of songs that actually could be on the album, and we chose to use those for the Japanese edition. It's very simple: For the Japanese record companies, it's really important to have something that is not on the U.S. or the European edition, because what happens is that people will just buy imports [due to the high cost of the Japanese CD]. So we wanted to do that for the record companies, because they're doing a really good job."
